local hike

My parents are visiting so we took my mom on a hike at Hidden Villa in Los Altos. We first looked at the sheep in the pasture (so sunny today!) then we headed steeply uphill on the Hostel trail.



I think that may have been a little too much for my mom though because she kept asking how far the hike was and how far had we gone so far. She wanted to loop around at the first trail intersection which would have only resulted in a 2.3 mile hike but when we got to that intersection, we managed to convince her to keep going further out. The trail ended up crossing into Rancho San Antonio onto the black mountain trail then we made a right at the Ewing Hill trail to come back into the hidden villa preserve.



The way back to the start was nice and flat with a very filled creek along the side.



The route ended up being a lot shorter than I thought - took about 2 hours and was 3.6 miles.
