So after making it through the holidays, I decided to try online dating again despite the lack of success on match. I decided to see if eharmony would work for me this time with a new personality profile. I never agreed with the one i had a few years ago so was better pleased with this one - well at least it's getting me better matches. And for the first time, I have lots of people contacting me on eharmony despite my advanced age of 30. Take that match.com! But then someone just told me there are lots of new people on these online dating services right now b/c of the new year and impending valentine's day. I guess it is all in the timing.
Anyhow, I'm meeting bachelor number 1 tomorrow who is into all sorts of things outdoors. He looks ok from his pics - sort of looks like an old coworker of mine. One funny thing I've noticed so far is that he was quite proud of the fact that he spent all of new year's eve in the hottub drinking with friends in tahoe. Which somehow gave me a weird impression of him. Not sure what it was but I felt slightly turned off after that. Then this week I suggested we meet for coffee and his next email was "drinks sound great!" I had to go back and read my previous email to see if I had somehow suggested drinks but nope. Coffee equals alcohol for him I suppose. But I guess it's a bar for me tomorrow now. I'm always a little ambivalent about meeting someone for drinks for the first time. I don't drink beer so I can't sip something light but it may be weird to order a cocktail plus I would want to wait to go home after drinking it and what if the date is bad? What would be best is if they had a good pear cider....
And of course to make this whole new year way more complicated - my parents have effectively moved now that my sister has moved out. They have started making remodeling plans for my house and of course they hired contractors that speak not a word of english. (yes they are dirt cheap too). So they need to be here to work with the contractors. Lovely. I think i will just need to be "out of town" every weekend.
