blinded

I was at safeway this weekend and was overwhelmed by the amount of valentine's day gifts for sale. Actually I think what made it over the top was the sheer number of balloons that were tied to everything. It was even in the produce section. urgh. Did you know that a lot of those balloons are musical as well? I have no idea what tune it would produce though for the valentine's theme. Anyhow, L and I were pondering who would buy a balloon for valentine's day. The only hypothesis we could come up with was maybe high school kids. I could see that - a girl walking around school with her balloon. maybe? Then again I asked 3 girlfriends today about the balloon thing and they all thought that a balloon was a potential gift for anyone. I was shocked. What the hell would you really do with a balloon? seriously. I think my first inclination would be to see how easy it would be to pop.

Oddly, I think a lot of girly girly girls like the big productions of massive bouquets and, yes, balloons. But I'd be just like you and try to pop them...unless they were mylar then you'd need some scissors.

Speaking of Valentine's beware of this crazy diddy that I intercepted.

Balloons don't die, encourage gnats, or leave petals all around your house. No one has their "favorite" kind of balloon, and they aren't more special if they're long-stemmed . . . I mean long-ribboned.

Makes perfect sense to me. But then again I floated dark red and gold balloons above the dance floor at our wedding.
