Our first camping of the year was Sun to Wed of Spring Break at Napa Bothe Campground. The Sunday arrival allowed for leisurely packing all weekend which still took an insanely long time but we made it up by the afternoon ish. I picked sites 16 and 17 which were good sites to book together and 16 had creek access! Unfortunately there was poison oak everywhere but it ended up not being that potent.

We actually pulled out our tent canopy for the first time since there were mosquitoes around and it turned into a frustrating 30 minutes since the advertising had said it would only take 5 minutes to pop up. Turned out the canopy was inside-out! Once we figured that out, then it was straightforward to put up.
The other good thing about our site was that we were close to the campground host and the bathroom but not too close. I guess because it was a weekday night things were pretty quiet too. On Monday, we went for a hike
We wandered over to the visitor center afterwards to see if there was ice cream but it was Monday and it was closed.
The next Tuesday, we did a longer hike to Bald Hill to views of Mt St Helena even though Frank really wanted to do the hike to Mt St Helena but that seemed way too ambitious for us. This hike was exposed at times on the fire road and we were worried that it may be too treacherous after we watched a helicopter rescue of a lady who hurt her leg. We took a path that led to a scramble to the viewpoint but then coming back down was pretty scary. Should have really stuck to fire roads to come down.
We had lunch in St Helena afterwards and walked around the town to a local bookstore.
So we were supposed to camp 3 nights but I had a noon presentation on Wednesday that I was worried about and then Charles suggested that we jsut go home Tue night. It felt weird to leave early but after I thought about it made more and more sense. So we had dinner and then headed back home.
