Today was a transition day to the next city. We had to take a fair number of trains in the end and they recommended a particular trainat 2pm so that the van could take the bikes for us. Since yesterday's route took so long, we were a little worried of how long it would take that we aimed for a 8:45 AM start. We got out the door at 9:10 which was still pretty good.
On this route, we hit road construction the moment we left Bruges but it turned out the right hand side of the canal was paved all the way to the town of Damme and was great.

From the town of Damme, we rode along another canal for miles on end. It was tree lined and gorgeous at first but unfortunately there was not much change to the scenery. We also didn't take any real breaks and after a while the girls started to lose energy. We did a quick candy break to try to revive them.

We did manage to get into the town of Eeklo a little past noon. It took a while to drop off the bikes and then we walked back to the square to find lunch. In the square, there was actually a sandpit area where the kids dug in happily while we waited for food.
Many train rides later, we got to the town of Rochefort - in the French speaking part of Belgium. Our hotel was quite charming with a beautiful church across the street.

We also had some of the most elaborate dinners at the hotel - also convenient since the kids would be done first and I was able to send them up to their room to sleep. Still pretty late though since the dinners took super long.
