death to broccoli

I have the chickens fenced off now in another part of the yard because I got tired of them pooping everywhere. Plus they like to eat green leafy vegetables a little too much so I wouldn't be able to get my fall cropping to live if I let them roam. The other day, I looked outside and saw a chicken hopping back over the fence into the quarantined area and thought "Huh. that's odd.". She had gotten out by squeezing through an opening in the fence but then returned herself to the area.

I thought all was fine and dandy until the next day when I strolled through the garden and saw this destruction:

These used to be broccoli plants. I guess the chicken gorged herself on her meal and then returned back to her pen.
