So the blog has been quiet because I've been kind of too tired to update but I figured I should now. I went back to work 3 weeks ago and it's been okay. Amazingly unproductive though now that I have to pump twice a day and I'm easily distracted in general. It's been awesome to see that really everything was fine at work without me and actually a little scary to admit that maybe I'm not that needed any longer. I'm not quite the same workaholic as before - when an issue comes by, I'm perfectly to have someone else fix it so that's good.
So who is watching babyH? Well there was a bit of drama around that. I found this lovely family near us who wanted to do a nanny share and when I contacted nannies from referrals, it was surprisingly hard to find anyone willing to take care of two infants. So I used care.com instead to post an ad and we found this amazing woman with tons of experience. So here is the drama part. Because this nanny wasn't available until Sept, I emailed my MIL asking if she could come watch hannah for a few days the last week of August. Her reply was "I plan to take care of Hannah until March". Um.. I don't remember asking her to do such a thing but I wasn't sure how to tell her our nanny plan. Luckily C emailed her back telling her about the nanny but then her next response was "I plan to come next week and watch the nanny in person to make sure she is good". AGH. Luckily, I had been prepared for this and the nanny share is at the other lady's house but we do have 1 day where the nanny just watches hannah alone at our house.
So the whole point of the nanny was so that my MIL wouldn't come stay with us during the week but we are only doing nanny 4 days a week so the grandparents get a day at least (we did originally only want 3 days a week but it's hard to find a part time nanny). So this last week was the first week of the nanny and babyH had a hard time the first day but adjusted quickly. BUT my MIL showed up midweek and is still here! So that means all 3 of us fight for babytime at night after I pick her up from the nanny. urgh. I'm not sure why my MIL is here but she seems to think we wouldn't survive without her. Anyhow, I was really hoping my MIL would go home by Friday since that was the day the nanny comes to our house but she was still here and proceeded to hang about all day watching the nanny. (luckily our nanny wasn't disturbed by this at all). I was hoping to get a weekend free of inlaws but then my MIL went and locked herself out of her car. Sigh.
But Friday afternoon, I got a frantic email from the nanny saying she was so sorry but she thought my MIL was mad at her because she was cutting the baby's fingernails and accidentally nicked her. It happens and we weren't upset but I sure was worried wondering if we would have a massive argument about the nanny when I went home. But surprisingly, my MIL actually defended my nanny to my FIL when he was making a big deal about the cut so looks like the nanny made a good impression. Phew.
