Lassen

After the ordeals of flying to Denver, we were relieved that next up was a road trip. Car rides are always a breeze with the kids since they immediately pass out. But we hadn't done a long one in a while so there was a bit of uncertainty:

Wed:
The kids were at daycare so we checked out the new Pizza Delfina in Palo Alto. An awesome outdoor area and seemed like it would be good for kids though the decor felt kind of nice too. We thought the pizzas were supposed to be personal sized but it had 6 slices and 2 was way way too much. But so so good. We'll be back. After lunch we picked up the kids and drove 3 hours to our dinner (Mcdonalds) stop in red bluff. It was the first time driving with a potty trained Hannah so even though she was in a diaper she started yelling "I have to go potty" quite vigorously for the last 25 minutes. So red bluff is clearly in the boonies. I started a conversation with a woman in the bathroom who asked if I was from Japan. When I said I was chinese, she exclaimed that she loved our food and that chicken chow mein was her favorite. She pointed out that there was a wonderful Chinese restaurant in town. Ah... the locals.

Thu:
The house we rented unexpectedly didn't have any wifi or cable so we were caught a bit unprepared. And 3G was spotty! It was like camping : there were even mosquitoes. We took the kids for a bike ride though:

Friday:
I had read a lot in the past about Rail-to-Trail bike paths in California and the longest one was the Bizz Johnson trail in Susanville near here so I was eager to check it out. We figured H would like it since it had bridges and tunnels. I towed babyC in the trailer but he was really enraged by his helmet falling into his eyes. It was a great trail though unfortunately quite hot and unshaded. Afterwards we really wanted ice cream but Susanville really had nothing. zilch. craziness. It at least had 3g reception.

Sat:
Inspiration trail at lassen near Juniper Lake. Short hike uphill to a super nice viewpoint but H liked the lake best of all and peeing outside. A true outdoor girl.
